One method of cleaning up coffee stains is to mix equal parts white vinegar and water and thoroughly rinse the area with the solution. Allow the mixture some time to set in, and rinse the site with water and blot it up with a paper towel or absorbent rag.

Another method is to mix a small amount of non-bleaching detergent with a sizable quantity of water. Then, follow the same procedure as listed with the vinegar and water mixture.

Many people prefer to use store bought spot cleaning brands that use active enzymes to facilitate the cleaning. These products are often very successful at cleaning out tough stains such as coffee stains because the active enzymes naturally break down and biodegrade the organic stain causing molecules. When purchasing a store bought stain remover product, it is generally advisable to shoot for a product that uses non-toxic ingredients, so it will be safe to use around pets and children. Non-toxic cleaning products are also less prone to damaging your carpeting or other fabrics.

Whichever coffee stain cleaning method you decide to utilize, always be sure to do a spot test with the cleaning solution you are going to use. Choose a remote location on your carpeting and apply a small amount of the mixture. If you see no change in coloration of the fabric after a few minutes, then the solution is safe to use.

No holiday get together is complete without some scented holiday candles as part of the decorations. Step away from the table and leave it alone.

Once it has cooled and completely hardened (you may as well wait until the party is over then deal with it) bring some of the left over party ice out of the freezer. Rub the ice over the wax until it becomes cold and very hard.

Now it is brittle and you should be able to use any of your plastic kitchen spatulas to pop the pieces of wax off of the surface and toss them away. Now put a little polish down and your end tables should look as good as new.

Water Stains

If you get water stains from someone inadvertently setting a cup on your end tables, it is not the end of the world. Once the offending glass has been removed, leave the table alone. Let it complete dry (often a day or so is good) then use mayonnaise and rub it into the water spot (make sure it is real mayonnaise, not something similar). The oils in the mayonnaise will re-nourish the wood and should remove the unsightly spots. It is important to do this lightly and sparingly. You don't want to leave any of the oily mayonnaise on your end tables or you could end up with oil spots to go with your old water spots.

Fire Damage - Dealing With the Damage, Ways to Avoid It

Fire damage to your home or business can be a devastating experience. Tornadoes, floods, hurricanes and tsunamis get a lot more media attention because they are uncommon but it can surely be as destructive to property and lives.

How to Clean Up Trauma Scenes

A person gets depressed beyond belief and blows his brains out. The police arrive and begin to survey the scene. After the trauma crew has done their job, basically gutting the space, the homeowner will have to hire out workers to do the work remaining to be done.

The cost for the trauma clean-up crew to come and do their job should be covered by your home owner's insurance policy because it is quite costly and does do a great deal of damage to the property. Expect the cost to be, at a minimum, around $13,000 for 18 hours. It runs about $600.00 an hour.

Because of the extreme sensitivity of this type of clean-up, it is not advised that the homeowners embark on this job themselves. It should be covered under the homeowner insurance policy as it is very extensive and very costly.

My sister had a hand-held steamer that would splatter if you weren't careful. The nozzle attachment on this one is great - no more water blotches and spills. There's a nice detachable water container located at the base that's easy to remove and refill. Instructions say that you can have continuous steam for 70 minutes, which is great, but I haven't needed it that long. Wrinkles go away quickly and clothes look neatly pressed. Assembly was very easy and the equipment can easily be stored somewhere in the corner of a room. Love how this is portable with the wheels on the bottom. Overall, great buy and no regrets so far.

I bought the ST-X2 through another vendor and it worked very well. It started to break down after about 9-10 months of semi-regular use, but it was still under warranty. I returned the ST-X2 to SmarTek directly for an exchange.

That was when the real problems started. SmarTek USA's customer service (just 1 person, mind you) is abysmal at best. I have let messages which were rarely returned (because customer service was basically not available most of the time). The few instances I actually got a hold of customer service they said my exchange was processed and I should receive my replacement ST-X2 in 7 - 10 days. More than two weeks later, I still have not received it yet.

While I recommend the product, its just not worth having to put up with such incompetence should anything go wrong with your steam cleaner.

I thought this would be a good steamer for the price and received it for Christmas last year after placing it on my Amazon wish list. It did a good job getting the wrinkles out of my clothes, but it was cumbersome to use. The brush attachment was nice for getting traction on the fabric but it would often fall off and the nozzle would often fall out of the cradle. None of that would have bothered me that much if it hadn't stopped working a few months ago. I'll be getting another steamer because it saves me a lot of money of dry cleaning, but I will definitely look for a different brand.
